Abstract
The authors have succeeded at obtaining 10 Gbit/s dispersion-managed soliton transmission over 2900 km using 1.31 μm singlemode fibres and chirped fibre Bragg gratings (CFBG) at 1.55 μm. Pre-chirping is indispensable for reducing additional nonsoliton components caused by the group delay ripples of the CFBGs.
