N2 - 10 Gb/s, 6, 700 km optical soliton transmission is demonstrated using a newly developed monolithically integrated MQW-DFB-LD/MQW-EA modulator pulse source. The timing jitter due to the Gordon-Haus effect is successfully reduced by the conventional optical bandpass filters employed for reducing the accumulation of amplified spontaneous emission in the cascaded EDFA's. The maximum transmission distance (BER of 10-9) in 10Gb/s optical soliton transmission is achieved using conventional EDFA repeaters.
