Abstract

MOVPE grown 1.5μm λ/4 shifted MQW-DFB LDs have been successfully developed for the first time. Stable single longitudinal mode operation at Bragg wavelength, effective TM mode suppression, high T0 value and narrow spectral linewidth were demonstrated. Extremely low chirp property enabled 2.4Gb/s-100km transmission using 1.3μm zero dispersion fiber with as low as 1.3dB dispersion penalty.
