Abstract
The crystallographic site of Nb atoms dissolved in an AITi intermetallic compound was determined by the channelling enhanced microanalysis with the use of an analytical electron microscope operated at 200 kV. The analysis showed that 97% of the Nb atoms occupy substitutionaily the Ti atom site in the tetragonal LI0-type structure. It was demonstrated that the channeling enhanced microanalysis is useful for the atomic site location of ternary elements in intermetallic compounds.
