Abstract

A Confocal laser scanning endoscope using a varifocal scanning mirror for wide field of view with a focus tuning function is presented. To verify the feasibility of the endoscope, a confocal laser scanning system using the varifocal scanning mirror is constructed in endoscopic optics configuration. The height of optical components is set at less than 5 mm. The beam spot distortion at large optical scan angle in both static beam condition and dynamic beam scanning condition is evaluated. The confocal laser scanning measurement is demonstrated.
