Abstract
A decagonal quasicrystal has been newly found in a conventionally solidified Zn70Mg20Dy10 alloy. The decagonal phase was observed in an annealed state, and thus is likely to be thermodynamically stable. As seen in the electron diffraction patterns, the decagonal phase has a novel local structure in comparison to previously-observed decagonal-phases.
