Abstract

Pressure dependence of magnetization has been investigated in two La-based ternary germanides La3Ir2Ge2 and La3Rh2Ge2. La3Ir2Ge2 was found to be a new superconductor of a critical temperature Tc = 4.7 K, and La3Rh2Ge2 was a type-II superconductor with Tc = 3.5 K. Detailed measurements of magnetization and AC susceptibility in the region of the applied magnetic field up to 1 T and hydrostatic pressure up to 1 GPa were performed. The pressure-temperature phase diagram of La3Ir2Ge2 was obtained. We discuss pressure dependence of the superconducting temperature in these materials.
