Abstract
A technique of fabricating alginate-apatite hybrids by chemically modifying it with silanol groups was investigated. The chemical modification was performed with alkoxysilane such as 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APS), treatment with CaCl2 (aq) and subsequent soaking in biomimetic solutions. The structures of the specimens were characterized using thin-film x-ray diffraction (TF-XRD). The results indicate that APS was combined to alginate.
