Abstract

In this study, we propose autonomous control methods to reduce the energy consumption of network systems. Increasingly, the share of energy consumption of network systems compared to the total power consumption of office buildings and the like is increasing. Green ICT has become a pressing issue. Conventional green computing methods for network systems have emphasized reduction of the energy consumption of individual devices. However, operation controls that are system-wide, incorporating measures for servers, network equipment, air-conditioners, etc., are expected to improve energy efficiency. In this paper, we propose a method that realizes reduction in the energy consumption of the entire network systems by controlling each component autonomously based on actual network system usage.
