Abstract

The rate of oscillatory bed load transport of sediment with non-uniform grain size has been measured in a wave flume. It has been found that the non-uniformity of the grain size plays a very important role in the sand movement due to wave motion in a similar way to the case of steady flow in alluvial channels. Practical expressions are experimentally obtained for different fractions of mixed sediment to estimate the critical conditions for incipient movement and the rate of bed load transport.
