    Abstract

Caprella takedai, a new caprellid amphipod is described from off Ito, east coast of the Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka, Japan. The species was found attached to green alga, Cladophora wrightiana Harvey, at a depth of 15 m. Morphological characteristics of the species are very close to C. subinermis Mayer, but it is easy to identify the species from others by the presence of a distinctive triangular projection on the palmar process of gnathopod 2 propodus.
