Abstract

Hydrogenolysis of biomass-related chemicals such as glycerol and tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol to the products that are difficult for the typical indirect mechanism to produce is reviewed. The modification of rhodium or iridium particles with rhenium much enhances the catalytic activity to the hydrogenolysis of C-O bond neighboring to terminal -CH2OH groups.
