Abstract

A cationic palladium(II) complex [Pd(CH3CN)2(PPhg)2](BF4)2 catalyzed the formation of amides by additon of tertiary alcohols to nitriles under neutral conditions, the reaction of which is called the Ritter reaction conducted normally in strongly acidic media. Scope and limitation of this reaction were studied in terms of the susceptibility of several functionalities.
