Abstract

We have measured the temperature and magnetic field dependences of the elastic constants in CeTe. Both modes of C₄₄ and (C₁₁ - C₁₂)/2 exhibit the characteristic softenings reflecting the level scheme Γ₇(0 K) - Γ₈(32 K). The rotational invariance effect has been found in the magnetic field dependences of the C₄₄ mode.
