N2 - This paper deals with the changes in the reflected waveform obtained from a sample after covering the sample with a polymer film. First, a theoretical model to predict the waveform obtained from the sample via the film was developed and the validity of the model was verified by experiments in which the ultrasound was transmitted from water into steel samples via a polymer film. Although the present model is based on plane wave theory, it was confirmed experimentally that the model is applicable for focused ultrasonic transducers.
