Abstract

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis and scanning Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) analysis were performed. The chemical state of the segregated phosphorus was the same as phosphorus in Fe//3P. This result supports the grain boundary decohesion mechanism proposed by Losch. The importance of the variation of the shape in AES analysis is discussed.
