Abstract

Direct conversion of tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol, which is one of the biomass-derived chemicals, to 1,5-pentanediol was realized by chemoselective hydrogenolysis catalyzed by Rh/SiO₂ modified with ReO_x species, and this reaction route gave higher yield than the conventional multi-step method.
