Abstract
One of the common problems of multimicroprocessor systems is communication conflicts between processors. To remedy this defect, clustering of processors has been proposed by various authors. The processing efficiency of clustered multiprocessor system is studied here, including expected overhead times for data transmission. A test system has been constructed with 33 processors, which are bundled into four clusters each containing eight processors and a master processor. The numerical results for two examples are discussed. These results show that clustering of the processors really is effective for standard problems.
