Abstract

The coadsorption of CO and C2H4 on the Pd(110) surface has been studied by using low-energy electron diffraction (LEED), high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) and thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS). A (3×2) LEED pattern is observed for the (CO+C2H4)-coadsorbed Pd(110) surface. The (3×2) pattern is not observed for pure CO or C2H4 adsorbed on the Pd(110) surface, and thus it is attributed to the mixed structure of the adsorbed CO and C2H4. A structural model of the Pd(110)(3×2)-(CO+C2H4) surface is proposed.
