Abstract

The present work describes the relationships between coercivity and microstructures of Pr17Fe77.5B4M1.5 (M = Cu, Ga, Ag, Al, In and Pb) cast alloys. The addition of Cu, Ga and Ag to the alloys lowers the melting point of the Pr-rich phase as a result of eutectic phase formation. This increases the coercivity of the cast annealed alloys. Especially, annealing the alloys with Cu, Ga and Ag at 723 K further enhances the coercivity up to 732 kA/m.
