Abstract
Recently, antimicrobial effect of photodynamic therapy (PDT), which has originally been developed for cancer treatment, gets to be applied to dentistry. In PDT, singlet oxygen is generated by laser irradiation of photosensitizer to kill pathogens. However, an appropriate method to evaluate the yield of singlet oxygen generated in PDT has not been established. The present article discusses an appropriate way to evaluate the yield of singlet oxygen in PDT.
