Abstract
The fluid motion and the wall motion in models of the arterial stenosis and the abdominal aneurysm with thick walls was computed and the fluid movement, the fluid wall shear stress distribution, and the stress distribution in the wall was visualized. The flexibility of the wall did not show significant effect in terms of the wall shear stress. The principal stretch in the wall showed a difference between the upstream edge and the downstream edge of the stenotic plaque. The stress concentration was found at both edges but the upstream edge was thought to be vulnerable to plaque ablation because of tensile stretch. The wall stretch was significantly high around the most expanded portion of the aneurysm.
