Abstract
When using ATM to transfer data packets such as IP packets, a total overhead portion (including cell headers and signaling/management cells) could become more than 10% of the total transmission capacity. If we can reduce this overhead portion, then the reduced amount of bandwidth would become available for sending users' information data. In this case, both service providers and users can get benefits. Therefore, this paper proposes a new method to transfer data packets by use of the standardized ATM cells without their headers except for the very first cell to transfer the data packet or its segment.
