Abstract

Five simple, either overall or two-step reaction mechanisms for CH4/Air flames were constructed based on four kinds of combustion characteristics: laminar burning velocity; ignition delay time and normal and weak flame positions in a micro flow reactor with a controlled temperature profile (MFR). Constructed simple reaction mechanisms were examined based on the above combustion characteristics and the essential differences in these mechanisms were identified. The performances of the constructed simple reaction mechanism were examined in a 2-D co-axial flame jet configuration through comparison with the detailed reaction mechanism. Flame lift-off height estimated with twostep reaction mechanisms qualitatively agreed with the result of the detailed reaction mechanism.
