Abstract

The effect of ELID (electrolytic in-process dressing) grinding on the corrosion resistance and biocompatibility of stainless steel was investigated. electrochemical corrosion tests were performed to study the corrosion resistance of the specimens. The electrical current density of the ELID ground surface was low, compared with that of the polished surface. It was found that the pitting potential of the ELID series was higher than that of the polished series. It was found that ELID grinding formed a thick oxide layer during the machining process, which inhibited a pitting of the surface and improved corrosion resistance.
