Curious gain-switching operation of GaInN blue-violet laser diodes producing high-peak-power picosecond optical pulses

Abstract

We found new kinds of phenomena in blue-violet GaInN laser diodes. In strong gain-switching operation, 10-W peak-power and 10-ps optical pulses were generated, and laser light injection into laser diodes further enhanced the peak power.
