Abstract

From 2003, the research committee on architectural education, in Architectural Institute of Japan, has been making questionnaire surveys on the selection of career for graduates of university and of graduate schools. Based on them, this study aims to investigate the current trend of job selection among the graduates majoring in architecture. According to economic trend, the total amount of construction has been reducing largely after 90's. But the proportion of graduates who got jobs in this industry in recent 10 years has hardly been reducing; almost 80 percent of graduates each year. It is also shown clearly the different tendency between male and female, between graduates of university and of graduate schools. This analysis provides us some indication on what ability students should acquire in university's architectural education.
