N2 - We have performed cyclotron resonance and Faraday rotation experiments in n-type CdS at ultra-high magnetic fields far above 100 T which is generated by either electromagnetic flux compression or single turn coil technique. The electron effective mass of CdS is investigated for both B||c-axis and B⊥c-axis over a wide range of the photon energy up to 225 meV, and significant polaron effect is observed in the vicinity of the LO phonon energy. In Faraday rotation measurements, the nonlinearity of the Faraday effect is clearly observed above 50 T by employing a wavelength close to the absorption edge of CdS.
