Abstract

Reaction cross sections (σR) for the proton drip-line nucleus 17Ne have been measured on 9Be, 12C, and 27Al targets at 64 and 42 MeV/nucleon by the transmission method. From the energy dependence of the σR including the high energy data, the density distribution of 17Ne was deduced through a modified Glauber-type calculation. It is indicated that 17Ne has a long tail in the density, consistent with a (2s1/2)2-dominant configuration of two valence protons.
