Abstract
Piezoresistant pressure sensors and ISFET micro sensors (pH, Pco2) to give information about the circulatory condition during left ventricular assist device (LVAD) pumping have been developed and evaluated. These micro sensors were built in the inflow and outflow cannulae. Micro pressure sensors and ISFET sensors were coated with antithrombogenic materials such as cardiothane and hydrophilic polyurethane respectively. In the chronic animal study sufficient sensitivity and reliability for an automatic control system of LVAD have been obtained.
