Abstract

Chiyoda Corporation, University of Tsukuba, INPEX Corporation and JOGMEC have jointly developed catalytic partial oxidation catalyst and process to produce synthesis gas with higher efficiency and less natural gas consumption and CO2 emission under high throughput conditions. The addition of the materials of oxygen storage capacity to the support materials was found effective to improve the catalytic performance. In order to reduce the pressure drop at the catalyst bed, the monolithic type catalyst was employed for 2000 hours life test at 0.9 MPaG. We also introduce the concept of modularized CPOX-GTL process, in which the reactor is designed based on the safety engineering to minimize the possibility of explosion.
