Dielectric and AC-calorimetry measurements of SmMnO33 under high pressure

Abstract

We constructed a system for dielectric and AC-calorimetry measurement under high pressure using a diamond anvil cell. To test the system, we investigated an anomalous magnetodielectric effect in a single crystal of SmMnO3 with perovskite structure under high pressure, and observed noticeable pressure dependence on the magnetdielectric effect. The observed pressure effect was interpreted in terms of the suppression of GdFeO3-typre distortion by applying high pressure.
