Abstract

An analysis of the diffraction of a horizontally polarized shear wave by a finite crack in a piezoelectric ceramic is carried out. Fourier transforms are used to reduce the mixed boundary value problem to the solution of a pair of dual integral equations. These equations are further reduced to a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. The dynamic stress intensity factor and the dynamic energy release rate are obtained for some piezoelectric ceramics.
