Abstract

The latest inventories of dioxin emissions from the metallurgical industries in Europe and Japan were introduced. The recent states of these emissions and related technological problems, mainly in the metal recycling processes, were summarized. For example, measured data of dioxin concentrations were presented for process gases at different stages in aluminum melting and secondary copper smelting. Further, recent progress in the research on dioxin behavior in electric arc furnaces for steelmaking and on the Catalytic effects of metals was outlined.
