Abstract

Directed assembly of metal oxide nanoparticles with the aid of DNA was investigated. One-dimensional arrangement of zirconia (ZrO 2) nanoparticles using DNA as a template was shown by TEM observation. It is considered that the DNA-directed assembly of ZrO 2 nanoparticles is due to the Coulomb interactions between the negatively charged DNA and positively charged ZrO 2 nanoparticles.
