Abstract

The ground vibrations generated by the blasting are of great concern in geotechnical engineering. In this paper a numerical analysis method for prediction of the ground motion due to blasting is presented. The process of the propagation of a shock wave in the rock mass during an explosion is studied. The effect of discontinuities to the dynamic responses of the ground surface are investigated by using a dynamic model based on the damage mechanics theory. Also, the effect of varying depth to the surface is discussed. -Authors
