Abstract

Although the thermodynamics of slag cleaning are well established for fayalite based slags, the kinetics of the process are not well known. Consequently, this study was undertaken to investigate the reduction rates of copper in fayalite slag by using Fe-Cu alloys at 1200 degree C and to study the mechanism of copper reduction by iron, especially the effect of iron activity and oxygen pressure.
