Abstract

Field measurements on power controlled reverse link signal transmission in DS-CDMA mobile radio in the 2 GHz frequency band have been conducted near Tokyo to investigate the effect of spreading chip rates on the mobile transmit power distribution. It has been demonstrated that the use of a 7.86 Mchip/s chip rate reduces the median transmit power level by approximately 6 dB compared with 0.96 Mchip/s.
