Abstract
Electrochemical characterization of two microarray electrodes, an interdigltated microarray electrode (IDAE) and a single potential microarray electrode (SAE), was investigated in flowing streams. Amperometric responses at these electrodes were in good agreement with those of theoretical prediction. Compared to a dual-series rectangular electrode (DRE) with the same electrode area, the IDAE showed amplification of current responses by a factor of 2.8-3.9 due to redox cycling. The collection efficiency at IDAE was 0.6, which was higher than that at DRE 0.4. The application of IDAE to the selective determination of reversible species catecholamines in high-performance liquid chromatography was also demonstrated.
