Abstract
Seven cases of paranasal sinus mycosis, three males and four females, were reported. In diagnosis of paranasal sinus mycosis, fungal culture test was negative in all cases, however, CT and MRI findings were very valuable and characteristic to mycotic sinusitis. Six patients showed a calcification in the maxillary sinus. A low signal in both T1 and T2 of MRI was recognized in six patients. Endoscopic endonasal sinus surgery with preservation of sinus mucosa was performed in all patients with maxillary mycosis. Symptoms disappeared immediately after surgery. The sinus cavity mucosa showed normal appearance several months later, suggesting that mucociliary function of sinus mucosa was recovered and normalized after surgery.
