Abstract

In the present study, a method for estimating the left ventricular power during one heart beat using the left ventricular pressure and the aortic flow has been proposed. The method is based on the beat-by-beat estimation of Emax. In vivo experiments using an adult goat revealed that efficiency of the ventricle as a blood pump could be analyzed by using the estimation of the power.
