Abstract

In paraplegic standing by FES, the closed-loop control of the stimulation to the knee extensor is desirable to maintain the knee joints extended position. Since the variation of the knee extensor force induce the variation of the tension of the patellar ligament, it could be expected to use for detecting the knee flexion. In this report, we will show that the estimated tension of the patellar ligament reflects the knee torque approximately and can be used for the control to maintain the knee joints extended position.
