Abstract

The fatigue strength of Me-DLC coating on NiTi shape memory alloy was investigated. Me-DLC was deposited on SMA by radio-frequency chemical vapor deposition and co-sputtering of metal target. The fatigue strength of Me-DLC has been evaluated by applying 1% cyclic bending strain. The surfaces of the coating were observed after bending test by using an optical microscope, a scanning electron microscope and an atomic force microscope. In the result of 1% cyclic bending test, fatigue strength was improved by metal addition. The investigated coating can endure the cyclic bending test up to 105.
