The evolution equation of a subcritical Hopf bifurcation is experimentally presented in a thermoacoustic system made of a straight resonant tube. From measurements of the energy and the external power when the system is perturbed by an external oscillating force, the evolution equations are determined for various temperature differences, which give an experimental evidence for the unstable limit cycle.
