Exacerbation of neovascular glaucoma in a case following stenting for internal carotid artery obstructive disease

Purpose : To report a case of exacerbation of neovascular glaucoma (NVG) following stenting of internal carotid artery (ICA). Case : A 75-year-old male presented with visual loss and elevation of intraocular pressure (IOP) in his right eye. His left visual acuity was no light perception due to NVG two years before. Magnetic resonance angiography showed 90% stenosis of right ICA. Stenting of right ICA was performed. After surgery, the visual acuity reduced to counting finger and IOP rose to 60 mmHg. After trabeculectomy, the visual acuity improved to 0.4 and IOP reduced to 12 mmHg. Conclusions : To our knowledge, this is the first reported case with sudden elevation of IOP following stenting of ICA. Careful management is needed after stenting of ICA for ICA obstructive disease.
