Abstract
An experimental study was carried out to determine the relationship of bridge and arc phenomena in breaking Ag contacts. The circuit current condition was changed to control the transition ratio to the gaseous phase. The bridge voltage waveform, the arc duration and the contact resistance of breaking contact were measured. The voltage determined was grouped into three levels which are 0.3, 0.4 and 0.8V respectively. Voltage distribution shifted to lower group as the transition ratio to the gaseous phase increases.
