Abstract
A parallel transmission line with double pairs of ridges was proposed and fabricated to support the autoresonant peniotron at the second cyclotron harmonic. A test circuit was designed to yield an efficiency of 57% in the second harmonic n = 16 mode. Experiments using this design demonstrated transverse electromagnetic mode excitation by the autoresonant peniotron interaction in the n = 17 mode at 21.4 GHz, albeit with an efficiency (6.8%) significantly lower than predicted by the simulation. Future experiments for improving the efficiency are discussed.
