Abstract

In order to enhance Jc in (Ba,Na)Fe2As2 wires and tapes further by improving texturing, we examined the following approaches; (1) Ag-sheathed HIP tapes, (2) AgSn-sheathed cold-pressed tapes, and (3) multifilamentary HIP wires with each filament having tape-like cross section. In addition, we attempted to increase Ic by fabricating (Ba,Na)Fe2As2 wires with larger core areas, and constructed a small demo coil using one of these wires with length up to 9 m. Jc characteristics of these new wires and the performance of the demo coil with and without an electrical insulation are reported.
