Abstract

Porous silica powder and transparent porous silica were synthesized for the development of thermal insulating materials and their thermal conductivity was evaluated. It was clarified that the thermal conductivity of the porous ceramic material was lowered than that of simple vacuum at lower vacuum region (higher pressure), indicating the porous ceramic materials had an advantage for the application of thermal insulator.
