Abstract

We report the fast microdroplet enrichment using spontaneous emulsification. We found that the droplet enrichment accelerates by pretreatment of surfactant organic solution. 30-fold enrichment can be achieved within 2 min. In this method even faster and higher enrichment factor can be achieved by changing the buffer concentration and the droplet size. This method has a potential to be a general enrichment method for high-throughput bioassay using droplet microfluidics.
